CAREER START Application Process 2018
Sophomores and juniors
interested in the Career Start (formerly known as Area Vocational Program
(AVP): first talk to your counselor about your interest in Career Start
! Acceptance into the program depends on your credit standing, attendance,
behavior, maturity, and postsecondary goals (depending on your
goals after high school, the program may not be appropriate for you).
Remember that Career Start is
a Concurrent Enrollment program! If approved, you are enrolled at both
AOHS and Pikes Peak CC/Int. Salon & Spa Academy. There are many
things to consider before enrolling in a concurrent enrollment program,
including that your grades appear on both transcripts, and you will be required
to pay the district back for any tuition initially paid on your behalf if you
fail any of the Career Start classes or don’t complete them (you
wouldn’t want that on your first college transcript!).
Daily attendance is critical and required in this program and you may be
dismissed from Career Start for violating their attendance policies or any
other policies set by PPCC or ISSA.
