Are you interested in becoming an Academy Online student?  This page contains information about next steps regarding registering for course through Academy Online, either as a currently enrolled District 20 student or as a potential District 20 student. As a reminder, whether a course will be offered online in the 14-15 school year is subject to student demand. See instructions below these documents.

If you are a currently enrolled D20 student who will be entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2014
You must make an appointment with your counselor at your current high school to discuss the possibility of taking online coursework through Academy Online.

If the determination is made that online coursework is an appropriate educational option for you and your principal approves, you can download an application to complete for Academy Online. This list of potential courses is available above.

  • Complete the application electronically. Once the application has been completed and signed, return it to your counselor who will then forward it to the Academy Online office. After the receipt of the application by the Academy Online office, you will be dually-enrolled both in your in-building school and Academy Online.
    • Because the online school relies extensively on email for communications, it is critical that the email addresses provided in the application are legible, accurate, and checked regularly.
    • Once course requests have been entered for Academy Online, students will be contacted about whether or not their requested courses will be offered through Academy Online for the 14-15 school year.
    • It is recommended that students register for similar in-building courses at their schools in case their requested Academy Online course is not offered due to lack of student enrollments.
  • Students who wish to enroll in Academy Online full time must work with their in-building counselors and will be required to schedule an interview with Academy Online.
  • Students who wish to take an Academy Online course in addition to their full load of in-building courses must work with their current in-building counselors and principals.
    • Academy Online courses taken in addition to a full-load at an in-building school are subject to space and other limitations. Students will be charged $250 per semester for each individual course taken above a full load of courses.

Once course requests have been entered for Academy Online, students will be contacted the first week of August about whether or not their requested courses will be offered through Academy Online for the school year.

If you are not a currently enrolled D20 student

  • You must begin the enrollment process in Academy District 20 to access these courses as a part-time or full-time Academy Online High School (AOHS) student by going to Enroll on the top menu.
    • Please note, if you enroll in Academy District 20 as a full time-online student, you must withdraw from your current school district.
  • If you are a home-schooled student, you are considered a full-time Academy District 20 student once you enroll in 4 or more online courses. This list of potential courses the application will be available above in April.
    • Home-schooled students who enroll in fewer than 4 courses are considered part-time.
  • Once the enrollment process is complete, you may complete and sign an application for Academy Online and return it to Enroll. Parents/guardians may attach the first 4 completed pages of PDF application via *their* email to nathan.gorsch@asd20.org and that will suffice for the required signatures. However, Academy Online must have a signed copy (scans and faxes are acceptable) of page 5 the application -the Affidavit of State of Colorado Residency.
    • After the receipt of the application by the Academy Online office, you will be enrolled in Academy Online to begin the course registration process.
