This project-based and personalized program was piloted for full time 9th grade students in the 2015-16 school year, 9th and 10th grade students in the 2016-17 school year, and 9th through 11th grade in the 2017-18 School year.  We now have 9th - 12th grade students. The Village pioneers an innovative and personalized school model.

Each student applying to the program will need to have an informational interview to assist in making enrollment decisions.  For more information on this program, please look over the website or contact the Academy Online office at 719-234-1970.    We have 40 spots available in each grade level.  Once grade level enrollment is full, students will be placed on a waitlist.

If you are interested in the Village, please submit an application, even if you are on a waitlist for a certain grade level.  The waitlist will be continued on each semester and you will receive updates on enrollment.  You will have the opportunity to accept or decline if an opportunity opens up.

To apply, please download and fill out the Village application and email it to Stacey Chavarria.

Important dates:

  • End of August 2018:   Enrollment will close for the 2018- 2019 School year.   Please apply early, though, as our spots for each grade level will likely fill up well before this date.

  • January, 2019:   A limited number of spots may open for second semester.

  • 7:00 AM Tuesday, January 22: The application window opens for the 2019-2020 school year.

Students in this program attend their primary D20 High School for a partial schedule and take online classes in place of courses they may take in building - increasing flexibility of the student schedule.  All courses taken through AOHS will help students meet the D20 High School Graduation requirements. The courses in this program may be fully online or hybrid, which require some in person meetings. Students must be enrolled at a D20 High School to take our courses.

To apply, first view the courses offered by looking through the Course Catalog ( link below), which has detailed information about the courses offered. Decide on the courses you are interested in.   Then meet with the student's high school counselor to complete the application.  The counselor with your primary High School will send the application to Stacey Chavarria.    It is helpful to download the Extended Studies Application and bring this filled out to the meeting with the counselor.

Our courses run based on student demand and budgetary considerations.  If there are any changes in the course offerings, you will be notified prior to the first day of class.

Contact the Academy Online office at 719-234-1970 for more information on this program.  You may also email Nathan Gorsch, AOHS Principal, for more information.

Important dates:

  • May 8, 2018  Courses enrollment is open for the 2018-19 Extended Studies Courses.

  • August 15, 2018, First day of classes for all District 20 schools, including Extended Studies.
  • August 29, 2018 ADD/ Drop Deadline:  All students wishing to drop a course must email no later than this date to avoid a WF on the transcript and a possible fee of $250 per course.

  • Fall,  2018   We will continue to accept applications for 2018-19 Second Semester courses with Extended Studies.

Academy Online High School offers a full time online program for 9th-12th grade students called Access at Academy Online. This program is intended for students with specific circumstances that prevent them from being able to enroll in The Village or go to an in-building high school. Access is not self-paced; however, there may be some opportunity to work ahead.

Care is taken to ensure each student enrolling in Access is prepared to meet expectations, has demonstrated the skills necessary to be successful in an online environment, and is seeking an online program for the right reasons. As such, each student wishing to apply meets with our counselor first.  If it is determined that the student is a good fit for this program, the counselor will help to build an individualized schedule of courses for the student.

This program is not intended for students who are significantly behind in credits.   There are limited spaces available.  Once grade level enrollment is full, interested students will be placed on a waitlist.

To start the application process, please contact our counselor Kimi Cain .    An informational meeting about the Access program is required to make sure that it is a good fit for the student.  You may also call the Academy Online office at 719.234.1670 for more information on this program.    It is suggested that you download the application and have this filled out prior to the meeting.

Important dates:

  • Jan. 16, 2018,  Village and Access Enrollment opens for 2018-2019 school year.
  • August 15th, First day of School for all District 20 High schools, including online courses.
  • August 29, 2018 ADD/ Drop Deadline:  All students wishing to drop a course must email no later than this date to avoid a WF on the transcript and a possible fee of $250 per course. Please apply early, though, as our spots for each grade level will likely fill up well before this date.
